Emma MUN Club goes to Bard College!

As a part of my project, I had as a goal to attend one conference during Fall, and another one on the Spring! Bard College had it's first MUN Conference on its campus at Annandale-On-Hudson this past November, and ten girls from Emma Willard had the privilege to attend.

Bard College MUN Conference was a perfect fit for us to attend. It was affordable ($10/delegate), close to Emma Willard, and a one-day conference. I selected ten girls who demonstrated advanced levels of debating skills, commitment to the club, and interest in attending this conference.

The conference consisted of three committees: a General Assembly (UN Human Rights) where we has two delegates per delegation, an Egyptian Constitutional Committee (Specialized), and a Crisis Committee. Before opening committee sessions, we had the privilege of listening to the President of the Model United Nations Club of West Point, who articulated about the importance of Model United Nations in High School and College. In addition, at the end of day, we also had the privilege of hearing a few words from the Bard College President, who talked about the importance of being aware of what is happening in the international community.

Every one of the Emma Willard delegates had an amazing time, and I hope Emma Willard is able to attend next year's conference but not only with 10 delegates, but with more! This was the start of our learning process of chairing a committee, which we will be doing in the upcoming EWMUN Conference.

    Thanks for reading!
